About Us

Tensta Joyful Noise (TJN) is a vibrant gospel choir founded in 2011 under the name Tensta Gospel’s Joyful Noise. True to our name, we are a Gospel choir filled with love—and joyful noise!
TJN began as a youth choir and, over the years, transitioned into a dynamic adult choir, with members ranging from 18 to their early 50s, reflecting a rich mix of life experiences and perspectives.
Our members come from across Stockholm and represent a variety of cultural backgrounds. On Monday evenings, we gather at Tenstakyrkan to share music, faith, and community. Our sound is rooted in the rich tradition of gospel, blending influences from both old-school and contemporary styles. Singing by ear allows us to channel the authenticity and raw emotion that gospel is known for, creating powerful performances that resonate deeply with audiences.
Throughout its history, TJN has been guided by several talented directors and choir masters, each shaping its musical identity. In 2024, Serena Robertson became the choir leader, bringing an extensive career in gospel music and a very unique skillset as a Chicago native—the birthplace of gospel music. Under Serena’s leadership, TJN continues to grow in excellence and artistry, carrying forward the spirit of gospel with passion and authenticity.
Known for our heartfelt energy and musical excellence, TJN has become a fixture in Sweden’s gospel music scene, performing in church services, concerts, and cultural events. We aim to inspire and connect people through music’s universal language.
